(8/19) Habitat has changed the parking location effective Wednesday, August 20. Please check the Updated downloadable map and parking directions

(8/19) For the August 23 workday, Matt is looking for about 10 volunteers - two inside painters, two outside painters, two carpenter-types, and a couple of others, for (hopefully) a short day. Habitat will be providing lunch.

(8/19) Landscaping will be September 27. Habitat will allow workers 14 and up on that day for laying sod. If you have any youth groups looking for a worthwhile project, this day would be a good opportunity.

(8/13) From Vince Nicosia: The house is almost complete but due to some scheduling conflicts with the sub-contractors we have just a little more to do.  Matt has called a special workday for August 23 to complete some finish work.  Please let me or Claudia know if you have any volunteers that would be willing to work that day.

Dedication is now scheduled for Saturday, October 4. Claudia will be looking for volunteers to assist with that event.

Habitat for Humanity is an international organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide. Founded in Georgia in 1976 on the proposition that all families have a right to live in decent affordable housing, Habitat has built over 100,000 homes around the world. Though it is a straightforwardly Christian organization, it has attracted and welcomed people of all faiths to its program.

It works very simply. Sponsors invest the money needed to provide the materials and professional requirements for the building of a house. The sponsors also seek to provide volunteers to assist the family in building the house. The sponsored family commits 450 hours of sweat equity to the build and, when they move in, take on a no profit, no interest mortgage payable to Habitat for Humanity. Habitat uses the mortgage income to sponsor more houses.

St. Louis Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1986. The Episcopal Habitat Project was formed in 1998. Beginning in 2001, we have partnered with Citi and Travelers Property Casualty Corporation.

We, the churches of the Episcopal Habitat Project are enthusiastically working together on this most exciting and worthwhile project. It will be a wonderful way for us to follow our Savior, Jesus the Carpenter of Nazereth.
